Marco's story

Marco's terrified that he might have HIV after a one night stand. He's admitted it to his girlfriend Shabna.

Red Crescent in Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, HIV mainly effects young people aged twenty and over. Three in four infections relate to injecting drugs at the moment and there is little information on safe sex available.

Stories from Kyrgyzstan

To help reduce the risks of HIV spreading further, the Red Crescent is training young people to teach sexual health, drug and HIV awareness to others their own age in the streets and in schools.

Here are the stories of young people volunteering to help.

Alexandra Gataulina (16)

"There are some common mistakes that people make about HIV."

Zarina Umetova (20)

"Young people ask questions and become scared – we can give them moral support and the facts."

Dasta Kanazamanov (21)

"Thanks to our work, young people know about HIV and understand the importance of using condoms."

Aida

Aida Maatkayreva (22)

"Many young people are confused about how HIV’s transmitted – I can give them the facts."

Itibek

Itibek Feminkulov (16)

Daria
